An unusual cup which was first thrown on the wheel, then carved using a stone tool once the clay had become leather hard. Before the bisc firing the piece was dipped in a white slip which was thin enough to allow some of the dark clay body to show through. The cup was first fired in a sealed container with charcoal and wood, then to around 1250 degrees centigrade in an electric kiln.

My personal symbol has been impressed to the underside and is partially concealed by slip. The cup measures approx. 3.5 inches in height and 3 inches width.
