This piece was initially thrown on the wheel and when leather hard a coarse texture was applied to the outside. The glazing of this vase was a very complex and time consuming process involving slip, under-glaze, and seven other dolomite and ash glazes, some of which were brushed on. In the intense heat of the firing, the various glazes melt at different rates, creating some fascinating textures and patterns.
Height of the piece is approx. 9 inches and diameter approx. across the base. A glaze run has covered the stamp, so a maker's certificate can be provided with the piece as proof of authenticity.
